The JICA Knowledge Co-Creation Program (Young Leaders) for African Countries (French)/Local Governance Course.2015

Target Region: Republic of Benin, Republic of Burundi, Republic of Chad, Union of Comoros, Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of Djibouti, Republic of Haiti, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, Republic of Senegal

From Oct 19th to Nov 5th, 19 members from ten African countries and Haiti visited several places in Gifu as part of JICA youth training program to study local administration. The delegation arrived in Japan Oct 19th and they joined the programs in Gifu after attending lectures of Japanese economy and politics and administration of Japan. GWY had charge of the program in Gifu prefecture. On Oct 22nd they attended the lecture about politics in Japan and administration system and decentralization after orientation at JICA international center. On Oct 23 they took lectures about policies of Gifu prefecture and Gifu city and Ogaki city from the officials in charge of the theme. They also paid a courtesy call to the chief of the Gifu prefectural government's environment and life department and Mayor of Ogaki city. On Oct 24th they visited Gifu primary school where "Fureai Festa" is being held as part of educational administration in which students learn how to live with the community. On 26 after visiting Gifu Media Cosmos they visited Gifu University where they took part in the lecture of earthquakes in Gifu prefecture and social foundations in municipalities after they had a lecture for general explanation of the department of engineering. They also visited the hospital attached to the department of medicine. The next day they visited Ogaki city to get the lecture on environment policies and visited the Clean Center. After that they visited Takayama city and Gujo city to get the lecture on town building and administration. They enjoyed taking a walk along the traditional streets there and bon dancing. They had a talk with Ogaki city's conference on environment. After holding the meeting on local administration and presenting the action plan and assessment of their activities they returned to their home countries on Nov 5th.
