(FY2015)The exhibition of the twelve signs of zodiac in Chinese astrology

GWY held the Japanese Culture Research Program, "What kind of art is Sho (calligraphy)?" at Okuno Hosomichi Basho’s Memorial Museum from Friday February 26th to Sunday 28th.
The project was co-organized by Ogaki city and supported by Ogaki city board of education, Gifu Prefectural Art and Culture Conference (GPACC). Most popular Art works including 30 new pieces were produced by Ms. Usui, managing director and bureau chief of GWY, were exhibited there. Calm and unique world was created by her calligraphic works. Ms. Usui has made an attempt to expressing in a various ways based on a notion that ultimate aim of calligraphy lies not in writing letters well but in expressing inner characteristics. She has created her own calligraphic expression which is now called "calligraphic arts exuding picturesque beauty".
On February 26th the opening ceremony was held at the hall where more than sixty persons concerned in the various fields were present including Ogawa Bin, mayor of Ogaki city, Nekota Takashi, a member of the prefectural assembly and Ishida Hiroshi, chairman of city council. At two o’clock on
February 27th the lecture named "Usui Chisato's gallery talk in terms of the signs of zodiac in Chinese astrology" was held. More than 100 people exceeding the seating capacity of 60 came to the hall. The lecture by Mr. Tadashi Yokoyama (the former president of The Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences-IAMAS) about Chinese astrology and Ms. Usui's explanation of her calligraphic career and the detail of this exhibition were given. On top of those there was graceful performance of two stringed instruments by Zhang Bin Erhu Orchestra, which fascinated the full audience.
